Hypersthene was a mineral name for orthopyroxene of Mg:Fe = 8:2-6:4. Now the term of hypersthene is not used officially and called
enstatite because of '50% rule'.
Yesterday, I uploaded some microscopic photos of enstatite crystals from IBM arc. Today, I show photos of brown hypersthene crystals separated from volcanoclastic rocks in Inawashiro Lake in Fukushima Pref., Japan.

By the way, I tried to google some photos of hypersthene and enstatite. I could easily find many geological photos of enstatite. On the other hand, somehow, I found no geological photos but jewerely goods of hypersthene... Is this related to the abolition of technical terms of the term of hypersthene??
